Nick Kaufman is co-owner of Opal Rose Tattoo in Bel Air, Maryland, which he opened with Kevin “TK” Laughton in Summer 2026. Nick has been an artist for as long as he can remember, with creativity and visual art playing a major role throughout his life. That passion eventually led him to the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with a concentration in Graphic Design.
Over the years, Nick has worked across a wide range of mediums, including oil painting, watercolor, drawing, graphic design, and even mirror engraving. That diverse artistic background has shaped his approach to tattooing, giving him a strong foundation in composition, linework, contrast, color, and design.
Nick specializes in American Traditional, geometric tattooing, and black-and-gray realism. Whether he’s creating bold traditional imagery, intricate geometric work, or highly detailed realism, he approaches each tattoo as an individual piece of art designed specifically for the person wearing it.
For Nick, tattooing is a natural continuation of a lifelong passion for creating. Each piece brings together his artistic background, technical skill, attention to detail, and respect for craftsmanship to create something unique and built to last.
